Kenyan agency plans huge chilly chain facility in East Africa

A leading Kenyan warehouse and logistics service provider Cold Solutions, says it will make investments USD 70 million to construct the most important chilly chain facility in East Africa to handle challenges that face transportation of perishable items.
Cold Solution’s 15,000 sqm flagship facility in Tatu City Special Economic Zone in Nairobi would be the largest, most superior and efficient within the area. The chilly chain facility is flexibly designed to cater for quite a few temperature ranges from +26 to -40 C and a quantity of product ranges, from contemporary fruit and greens, to prescribed drugs and vaccines, meats and poultry, and frozen foods.
Cold Solutions Kenya is a portfolio firm of ARCH Cold Chain Solutions East Africa Fund, a personal equity fund advised by ARCH Emerging Markets Partners Limited (ARCH).
“Cold Solutions’ one-stop-shops are designed to permit companies to maintain track of products in real-time and facilitate transportation throughout East Africa by way of temperature-controlled vehicles, both within the internal metropolis or to long-haul locations,” said Jared Irving, Managing Director, ARCH.
